Thanks to technological advances, cutting-edge dentistry and techniques, along with the great skill and training of our professional team, at Alban City Dental, we can save and restore most teeth. There are some situations, however, where extraction is necessary, in which case our team of doctors will be able to perform this treatment with the utmost care and efficiency.
Why might a tooth need to be removed?
There are several reasons why a tooth may need to be extracted:
Are you skilled at supporting nervous patients?
Absolutely! There’s no need to be afraid of a tooth extraction. Our team is highly trained and skilled when it comes to performing tooth extractions, and we have developed ways to help even our most nervous patients feel calm and at ease. We can offer sedation to those who need it. Noise cancelling headphones and your choice of music are also available if you want to tune out the sound of treatment.
Does it hurt to have a tooth removed?
Treatment is usually carried out under local anaesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout. If necessary, we can offer sedation.
Will it hurt afterwards?
The area surrounding the extracted tooth will start to hurt once the anaesthetic has worn off, but this can be treated with Ibuprofen and Paracetamol.
Do I need to replace my extracted tooth?
You may or may not need a replacement, depending on the reason for your extraction. In most cases, we always recommend replacement, as missing teeth can lead to further oral health issues. However, if you have had a tooth removed due to overcrowding or an impacted or infected wisdom tooth, you will not need a replacement.
What replacement options do you offer?
At Alban City Dental & Surgical Centre, we can provide patients with single-tooth dental implants, implant-retained dentures, and All-On-Four/All-On-Six Same-Day Teeth.
